History & Purpose
48 years ago, local business people decided it was high time to show appreciation to the hundreds of deer hunters who visited Bandera County each fall. Thus began the Hunters Bar-B-Q. Along the way, the Bandera County Chamber of Commerce adopted the event, and it has become the Chamber's primary annual fundraiser as well as a true Hill Country tradition.
Since its inception, the Bandera County Chamber of Commerce Hunters Bar-B-Q & Outdoor Exposition has become a community-wide event. It is one of the most entertaining and anticipated events of the year, with more than 1,000 people lining up for their brisket-filled plates.
More than 100 volunteers contribute their time and labor to the celebration to produce this classic fall event that has helped make Bandera famous. The proceeds are used to fund Chamber operations, along with contributions to other non-profit organizations including Bandera Boys and Girls Club, Bandera Honors Veterans, Bandera Business Association, Bandera Community Foundation, Kronkosky Library, Shriner's, Cowboy Capital Rodeo Association and Bandera County Junior Livestock Show Association.
